  • song: Oh the Blood

    Wow, another awesome song =)

    Oh The Blood
    Hillsong

As I think on the cross
And the price that was paid
    Royal blood that was spilled
    So the dying could live
    Every sin or disease
    Broken hearts come to you
    I’m so grateful
    As Your mercy
    And Your grace cover me

    Oh, the blood of Jesus
    Oh, the blood of Jesus
    Hallelujah, hallelujah
    You’re the reason I’m free
All the praise and all the honour
To the only Lord and Saviour
    Hallelujah, hallelujah
    You’re the reason I’m free

With my hands and my heart
    I surrender again
    All devotion
    Adoration
With my life I will praise

    Now unto Him
Who takes all the sin of the world
    Hallelujah

  • song: Evermore

Here's a song that you'd probably never find being sung on Sunday at Eastbay. There are many great songs like that--more suitable for personal worship and reflection rather than corporate worship. Here's one them. I look forward to finding out what kinds of songs we will sing in heaven =)

Aside: I still use Winamp to listen to music. It is simple, lightweight, and has lots of cool plug-ins! For example, I am using the lyrics plug-in to share these lyrics right now:

    Evermore
    Hillsong

Lost for words with all to say
Lord you take my breath away
Still my soul, my soul cries out
    You are holy

And as I look upon Your name
    Circumstances fade away
Now Your glory steals my heart
    You are holy

    You are holy
    You are holy Lord

Evermore my heart, my heart will say
Above all, I live for Your glory
Even if my world falls I will say
Above all, I live for Your glory

With all my life I'll say
    I'm living for Your name
With all to give You praise
I'm living for Your glory Lord

Evermore my heart, my heart will say
Above all, I live for Your glory
Even if my world falls I will say
Above all, I live for Your glory

I realize it's difficult/distracting to load all mp3's onto my playlist and play random songs. So, I organize them into playlists by artists or themes, like rap, Chinese, hymns, praise & worship, etc. The bad part of this is that if I didn't organize some into playlists, or I only listen to select playlists, there are actually a lot of songs in my library that I rarely (if ever) listen to, and never get to learn and appreciate!

    Why is Hillsong SOOOOOOO good!

  • b-boying in korea

this is straight copying a post from dean from a long time ago. but it's so cool, that I saved it in my Bloglines and watch it from time to time. so cool!

Korea is a b-boy phenomena country because they develop their skills in such a short time...

They came out of nowhere, nobody had Korea on the map in the year 2000... but then, in the next 5 years, they got better so fast, doing power moves nobody has seen before.

On a technical level, there is nobody that could touch the Koreans. Nobody.

  • don't hate

when scoffers scoff, when mockers mock, when unbelievers scorn, deny, laugh at, jeer at, suppress the word of God, they push off the only one true Creator God who can save them.

They don't realize it, but that's what they're doing.

    I see dead people everywhere.

This entry is to be continued...

  • favorite hymns

often, if I write something I feel is worth sharing on someone else's blog as a comment, I'll re-post it here.

Here's about hymns on Tim Challies' post:

I love hymns!  My church had a bunch of old hymnals they were not using any more, so I took with me. Some of my favorites (sorry, I can't help but to share so many!):

    (Trust and Obey)
    Trust and obey,
    For there's no other way
    To be happy in Jesus
    Than to trust and obey
    ...
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear only trust and obey.

    (To God Be the Glory)
To God be the glory, great things He hath done
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the Lifegate that all may go in

(Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us)
Savior like a shepherd lead us,
Be the Guardian of our way
Keep thy flock from sin defend us
Seek us when we go astray

    (Jesus Paid it All)
    Jesus paid it all
    All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

    (Near the Cross)
Jesus, keep me near the cross,
    There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream,
    Flows from Calv'ry's mountain

In the cross, in the cross
    Be my glory ever
Till my raptured soul shall find
    Rest beyond the river
    ...
Near the cross! O Lamb of God
    Bring its scenes before me
Help me walk from day to day
    With its shadows o'er me

    (Here is Love)
    On the mount of crucifixion
    Fountains opened deep and wide
Through the floodgates of God's mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
    Poured incessant from above
    Heaven's peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love

What are your favorite hymns? =) Post here or there!

  • tattoo phrase: "NM BT"

I met a guy at the RSF today while playing basketball. He had two tattoos, a cross on his right arm and some lettering on his left arm. I asked him about it, and he explained that "NM BT" stands for "Not mine, but Thine"

    Cool!

Not my will, but Yours be done

  • i want to pray

or... I want to learn how to pray

    Matthew 6:6-13 NASB
    (6)  "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
    (7)  "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
    (8)  "So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
    (9)  "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
    (10)  'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
    (11)  'Give us this day our daily bread.
    (12)  'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
    (13)  'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]'

    Lord, teach me how

    Luke 11:1-13 NASB
    (1)  It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples."
    (2)  And He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
    (3)  'Give us each day our daily bread.
    (4)  'And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"
    (5)  Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves;
    (6)  for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him';
    (7)  and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.'
    (8)  "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
    (9)  "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
    (10)  "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
    (11)  "Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
    (12)  "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?
    (13)  "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"
  • what would you rather?

I had dinner with a brother last night, and I thought of this song afterward

    I'd Rather Have Jesus

    I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin’s dread sway,
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
    This world affords today.

    I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
    I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I’d rather be true to His holy name.

    He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
    He’s sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs,
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

here's a good writeup about the song

    Matthew 16:24-26 NASB
    (24)  Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
    (25)  "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
    (26)  "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

    Philippians 1:21 NASB
    (21)  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

    Philippians 3:7-8 NASB
    (7)  But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
    (8)  More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,

  • how am I doing?

I realize that when I am asked the question, "How are you doing?" I often answer in a variety of ways.

Usually, I take some time and answer with some hesitation, because there are two components that I consider when answering that question.

    A) My circumstance
    B) My stewardship

    So, how am I doing?
    A) A+
    B) C-, if even that

    Philippians 3:12-14 NASB
    (12)  Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
    (13)  Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
    (14)  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
